Who each is for

Docketwise. An immigration-specific system. Its pricing page lists smart forms, multilingual client intake questionnaires, case and priority date tracking, a client portal and document requests on every plan, with e-filing, e-signatures, CRM and its "DocketWise IQ" AI (document and writing assistants) from Pro. Thin spots: the Basic plan has no e-filing, and the page gives no trial length.

Clio. A general-purpose platform. Clio Work is described by LawNext as an AI workspace for research, analysis and drafting, available standalone since April 2026. We found no Clio statement we could read about immigration forms, so we can't say what, if anything, it does for USCIS filings. See our Clio Duo review and Clio Work profile.

Using both. Docketwise's integrations page lists Clio but doesn't say what the connection does. Ask both vendors whether matters, contacts and billing sync, in which direction, and what it costs. See also Docketwise vs eImmigration and our Docketwise profile.

Pricing, as shown on October 21, 2026

Docketwise's pricing page lists three plans per user per month and says "unlimited cases". The first price set is USD 80 (Basic), USD 100 (Pro) and USD 120 (Advanced); the second is USD 90, USD 120 and USD 140. The page does not label them, so we read the first as yearly and the second as monthly from the order of the Yearly/Monthly toggle; confirm before budgeting. Advanced lists a "Try for Free" button, with no trial length stated; Basic and Pro offer a demo.

Clio: not published to us. Its site returned 403 on every page we tried, and we did not work around it. The only price we have is LawNext's report of USD 199 per user per month for Clio Work at its October 2025 launch, which may have changed. Get Clio Manage and Duo quotes directly. For other platforms, see Filevine vs Clio and MyCase vs Smokeball.

What we couldn't verify

  • Any current Clio plan price or what the plans include (Clio's site returned HTTP 403).
  • Whether Clio offers immigration form filling, e-filing or priority date tracking.
  • What Docketwise's Clio integration syncs.
  • Whether Docketwise's first price set is the yearly one.
  • Docketwise's trial length, security certifications and uptime.
  • Docketwise's homepage claims ("75% less time on admin") are marketing, not measured results.

How we'd test the two in a week

  1. Pick three real immigration matters (for example an I-130, an H-1B and an asylum filing) and the documents you already have for them.
  2. Run each matter through Docketwise's questionnaire-to-form flow and count the fields you still fix by hand.
  3. Ask Clio, in writing, which of those steps it supports and for a quote at your user count.
  4. If you'd run both, test the Clio link: create a client in one and check what appears in the other.
  5. Compare billing: invoice one matter in each and check how trust and flat fees are handled.

Questions and answers

Clio vs Docketwise: which is better for immigration law?

Docketwise is built specifically for immigration casework, so it is the likelier fit for an immigration-only firm. Clio is general practice management, and we found nothing we could read that shows immigration forms in Clio. We have not tested either.

Does Docketwise integrate with Clio?

Docketwise's integrations page lists Clio, but it doesn't say what the integration does. Ask both vendors what syncs.

How much does Docketwise cost compared with Clio?

Docketwise shows USD 80 to 140 per user per month across its three plans, depending on plan and billing period. Clio's prices were not readable by us, so we can't compare.

Does Docketwise have AI?

Yes, per its pricing page: "DocketWise IQ" with a document assistant and a writing assistant, included from the Pro plan.

Can a small immigration firm run on Clio alone?

We can't confirm it from sources we could read. Ask Clio how it handles immigration forms, e-filing and priority dates before you rely on it for them.
