Definely: review as a separate step

Definely's home page lists six jobs: keeping defined terms in context, proofreading, comparing a draft against your standard form or precedent, staying in control with tracked changes, finding and reusing precedent, and issuing reports. Its technology page says cross-references, defined terms and proofreading run deterministically, and AI is used for comparison against a standard form, knock-on effect analysis and natural-language precedent search. Accepted changes go in as tracked changes you can read word by word. For the full profile, read our Definely review.

Legora: a platform for the whole workflow

Legora's home page describes the Legora aOS as the layer that connects information, communication and the execution of legal work. Its Agent "plans, executes, reviews and delivers"; Monitors scans regulation; Lists organizes legal work. It names practice areas including M&A, litigation, banking and tax. The page cites a study with 30 customers in 9 countries, in which 70% said they can respond to stakeholders faster; that is a vendor-commissioned qualitative study and we did not check it. Which job do you have

  • You review long, defined-term-heavy contracts and want an independent check on a draft: Definely is built for that single step, including a draft produced by another AI tool.
  • You want one system to run research, drafting, monitoring and matter lists: Legora's pitch is the platform. Check what it does in Word and how it handles review before you assume it replaces a dedicated checker.
  • You already have an AI drafting tool: Definely's own framing is that the reviewer should be a different tool from the drafter. Whether that matters for your risk is your call.

We did not run either product. The claims above are the vendors' own descriptions.

Questions to ask each vendor

  1. What does it cost per user on an annual contract, and what is included?
  2. Where does the contract text go, and is any of it used to train a model?
  3. How do findings tie back to the clause and the source document?
  4. How does it work with my document management system?

Questions and answers

Is Definely a Legora competitor?

Partly. Both serve lawyers working on contracts, but Definely describes itself as an independent review tool for Word, while Legora describes a broader platform with an Agent, Monitors and Lists.

How much does Definely cost compared with Legora?

Neither publishes a price. Definely's site has no pricing page and we found no Legora pricing page at legora.com/pricing on November 5, 2026. Both route buyers to a demo.

Does Definely use AI?

Yes, but its technology page says navigation, defined terms, cross-references and proofreading run deterministically, with AI working from that map for comparison and search.
