Shepard's Verify is a verification surface
A citation check has several parts: does the authority exist, does the cited text match, what is its current treatment and does it support the proposition? LexisNexis says Shepard's Verify and Citation Service can check validation, status and treatment. Treat that as vendor-reported capability.
The accountable reviewer still needs to inspect material authorities. A green status marker cannot answer whether a case supports a sentence in context, whether the procedural posture matters or whether a jurisdiction-specific rule changes the use.
Test with a known set containing valid citations, miscites, quotations with altered words, adverse treatment and authorities that exist but do not support the proposition.
Skills are reusable process objects
The product page describes building skills from organizational templates and processes, sharing them and using a library of LexisNexis and Claude skills. The implementation question is ownership. Name the lawyer or knowledge owner who approves the instruction, sources, expected output and update trigger.
A skill should carry a version, permitted data class, source boundary, reviewer and stop condition. If a template changes, the owner should know which active workflow still uses the old version.
Workrooms are a collaboration layer
Workrooms can reduce scattered prompts, drafts and conversations if permissions and history behave as expected. Test a real permission model: practice group, matter, ethical wall, guest and departed user. Confirm whether document versions, skill versions and generated work retain an understandable history.
Do not infer privilege, confidentiality or ethical-wall compliance from the word “Workroom.” Those conclusions depend on contract terms, settings, administration and the firm's rules.

The current official product surface uses “Lexis+ with Protégé.” Older pages and buyer language may still use Lexis+ AI. Preserve historical names when discussing historical material and use the current label for the present product.
Does Shepard's Verify guarantee a citation is safe to file?
No. It supplies verification functions described by the vendor. A lawyer must confirm that the authority and quoted material support the filing under the applicable rules.
Are Workrooms included in every Lexis agreement?
Unknown. The official page describes Workrooms and customized pricing. Buyers should confirm feature, content and administrative access in writing.
