This page covers alternatives for EvenUp and Supio together because firms searching for one are usually comparing against the other. For a head-to-head see Supio vs EvenUp.

Why do firms look for an EvenUp alternative?

The reasons repeat, and each points to a different replacement.

  • Pricing model. Per-demand and per-seat pricing scale differently with case volume. Compare your own monthly demand count against each model, and ask each vendor for a quote and the unit it bills on.
  • Scope. You need records, discovery or intake work, not only demands.
  • Fit with case management. You want the AI inside the system where the file already lives.
  • Control. You want to see and edit how the draft was built.

Name the job first. "Cheaper EvenUp" and "more than EvenUp" are different searches.

How do you test an alternative before switching?

Run the same five closed files through each candidate and the current tool. Score each on:

  1. Source tracing. Does each fact in the chronology or demand link to a record page?
  2. Completeness. Count providers, visits and charges against the records.
  3. Totals. Recompute billed and paid amounts by hand.
  4. Draft quality. Would a senior attorney send it with edits or rewrite it?
  5. Editability and export. Can you change the output and leave with your data?

Decide your own settlement range before you read any tool's number, so the tool does not anchor you. Do the same on the closed-file checks for any claim you plan to value: recompute totals by hand and open every cited page.

What should you check on data and ethics?

Claim files hold health information and client confidences. Ask each vendor about retention, training on your data, subprocessors, audit logs and breach notice. Confirm whether a business associate agreement is available if your role requires one; whether a firm is a business associate depends on its role, so ask your own counsel. Your duties under Model Rules 1.1, 1.6 and 5.3 apply to the tool you choose. See ABA Formal Opinion 512 and the AI Vendor RFP Template for Law Firms.

What about switching costs?

Ask before you sign: can you export every output and the underlying extractions, what happens to open matters mid-demand, and what is the term. A cheaper tool that traps your data is not an alternative. For the lock-in pattern in legal AI see Harvey AI Alternatives and Best AI for Personal Injury.

Questions and answers

What is the best alternative to EvenUp?

There is no single best. Supio and Eve target plaintiff firms across the case, and case management platforms with built-in AI keep the work in your file. Pick by the job you are replacing and test on your own closed files.

What is the best alternative to Supio?

It depends on whether you want demand drafting, case management with AI, or a build-your-own setup. The same five-file test applies.

Is there a cheaper alternative to EvenUp?

Pricing depends on volume and model. Compare per-demand and subscription costs against your own case count, and include staff review time. None of these vendors' home pages we checked lists prices, so ask for a quote.

Can I build my own demand workflow instead of buying a tool?

Yes, with templates, source-linked extraction and a checking step. It trades license cost for setup and review time. See Claude Projects for Lawyers.

What should I verify before putting medical records into a new tool?

Data retention, training use, subprocessors, a business associate agreement where your role needs one, and your jurisdiction's confidentiality rules.
